In Consideration of Hydrogen as an Alternative Fuel With rising gas prices and the desire to see our country free from the bonds of foreign oil I went out in search of the perfect alternative fuel. Having no personal gain connected to my search at the time I was allowed the opportunity to freely examine the pros and cons of all options on the table. It is my belief that knowledge is power so I did my homework. Though I believe that our country needs to examine all options to get ourselves free from our dependence on foreign oil after spending months doing research I found one option especially intriguing, water! The beauty of this choice is not only can water be found in water, including salt water, but also in organic matter. Water is converted to Hydrogen or HHO in using fuel cell powered generators. Since water is essentially two parts Hydrogen to one part Oxygen it is beautifully simple in its composition. Once converted to Hydrogen gas it is 14 times lighter than air. This is significant because if your car ran on hydrogen and was involved in an accident the fall out, so to speak, would demonstrate a significantly lower probability of being flammable thus minimizing automobile fires. The HHO fuel would quickly dissipate into the air. What is even better is it is colorless, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. HHO, when burned, gives off a considerable amount of heat or energy which works to clean out the unburned hydrocarbons that reside in your engine. This process allows you to gain power from a higher percentage of the gas you do use only adding to mileage capacity. Your vehicle will run cleaner and more efficiently. The exhaust that results from hydrogen is water. It is the only fuel that gives back what it takes! That’s right it does not pollute the air nor contribute to global warming. Hydrogen is a win for our environment and a win for our energy problem right now!Okay so what do we need to do to start using hydrogen today? Like most of you I can’t afford a hybrid vehicle and don’t want to continue to pay the ridiculous fees we find at the pumps. There are books available that will walk you through the process of building your own hydrogen generator. Most are very user friendly complete with illustrations and directions to help anyone with a basic mechanical understanding accomplishes the task. Though I am not completely ignorant of mechanical things I don’t have the place or the time to build my own. I have found that I could purchase a supplemental hydrogen generator that would allow me to combine gas and water for between $197 & $800 dollars, depending on the cubic inches of the motor, install it or have it installed and start driving on Hydrogen tomorrow. To me this just makes since. True I am not completely off gas but it is a step in the right direction. Why should I toss out a perfectly good vehicle for a lot less than I paid for it so I can make monthly payments of $350-to $600 for 5 years or better? It will take them at least two years to get hybrids perfected. I can be saving 50% on fuel today. Do the math, if you could save 50% of your gas expenditure monthly? Even if I got the most expensive model of a supplemental hydrogen generator I could pay for it in 2 months and avoid the excess car payment. You don’t have to take my word for it. Check it out for your self. |
